Cantele
The story of Cantele Winery began just after World War II, when Giovanni Battista Cantele and his wife, Teresa Manara, left Northern Italy for the sun-drenched Salento peninsula in Puglia. Captivated by the region's untapped potential, they laid the foundation for a lasting family legacy.
In 1979, their sons Augusto โ a pioneering enologist โ and Domenico officially founded Cantina Cantele in Guagnano. Blending Northern industriousness with Southern terroir, they helped elevate Apulian winemaking. They later dedicated their most iconic line of Chardonnay and Negroamaro to their matriarch, Teresa Manara, honoring her role in their journey.
Today, the third generation (Gianni, Paolo, Umberto, and Luisa) proudly leads the estate. They champion Salento's indigenous grapes with a contemporary, sustainable approach, ensuring Cantele remains a benchmark for elegance and quality in Southern Italian winemaking.
