Welcome to our Kerpen winery in Bernkastel-Wehlen in the heart of the Middle Moselle. Our family has been growing wine for around 250 years. That's 8 generations who have worked with heart and soul in the world-famous steep slopes. They laid the foundation on which we stand today. For a good 35 years, Martin Kerpen and his wife Celia have been running the business, which has now grown to 9.5 hectares of vineyards. Their exposed south-southwest location and the mineral-rich and heat-storing Devonian slate rock are the perfect basic conditions for producing the highest quality grapes. But a top location is by no means everything. So we attach great importance to careful work in the vineyard to get the best quality out of our grapes. Gentle pruning, 100% hand picking and healthy grapes are the be-all and end-all for us. As soon as our grapes have arrived at the winery, we strive for a natural, gentle vinification by Apart from gentle pressing and pre-clarification, keep them out of the fermentation process as much as possible. Because when it comes to expansion, we believe that less is more. The deep, dark basement with its cool, constant temperatures and high humidity also helps here. Martin is also chairman of the board of the "Bernkasteler Ring" , the oldest wine auction company in Germany, of which we have been a member for almost 100 years.
